Too Cute!

Alaina is quickly accumulating many new things to fill her bedroom. The shelving unit for her dresser arrived last week. After securing the shelves to the dresser, we starting filling it with some of the baby gifts we've received. The letters that spell Alaina's name will soon be hung above her crib. The drawers of the dresser already have clothes in them! I hear that you are suppose to wash baby clothes before they wear them. I probably have enough to do a full load of baby clothes, but I'm a little nervious to take the tags off everything. There is a chance that the baby is a boy, the doctor was not 100% sure that it is a girl. If I take the tags off everything, I'm not sure if they could be returned. If the baby is in fact a boy, he may have to get used to wearing pink!

Speaking of girly clothes, this adorable outfit was a gift from my godmother. This may be an option for Alaina's first photo shoot... how cute!
Megan and Cole sent Alaina a really cute baby bouncer. The hanging animals are very tempting for Zoe. She frequently tries to jump up and chew on them. Before the baby comes, we will have to have a serious talk with her about which toys are hers and which ones belong to Lainy. Thanks for the cute bouncer, Megan and Cole.

Kathryn and Yanni's "After-Wedding Reception"

Yesterday afternoon we had an after-wedding reception for Kathryn and Yanni. Since so many people were unable to make the trip to Greece for the wedding, we thought it would be nice to have a reception in Rockford. Too bad Yanni wasn't here for it; everyone was anxious to meet him. Unfortunately, Yanni's dad passed away on New Years Eve. It really was best for Yanni to stay behind in Greece and be with his dad during his last few days. Although Yanni was missed, the reception was really nice. We had a brunch buffet at the Hoffman House. About 50 friends and family members came, despite some nasty weather. Below are a few pictures that were taken after the brunch.

Kathryn's Visit

Kathryn came home from Greece right before the holidays. She was going to come with her husband, Yanni, but his father was very sick. Yanni stayed in Greece to be with his father. We have had the last few weeks to spend time with Kathryn, which has been really nice. Right before Christmas, we went for a family brunch at Anderson Gardens. The restaurant was beautiful. The walls were huge glass windows that overlooked a snow covered forest. The family pictures below are from our brunch. I've had these pictures for awhile, but am just now getting around to posting them. Kathryn is leaving to go back to Greece next week. We will really miss her!

Baby Alaina's Room

Our nursery furniture was delivered on Monday. We purchased a crib, a five-drawer dresser, and another dresser that will eventually have a shelving unit to go on top. The extra shelving will be delivered sometime in February. The crib converts to a toddler bed and an adult bed when needed. Nate and I spent some time playing around with the arrangement of the furniture in the baby's room. After moving things around for awhile, we finally came up with an arrangement that works. The room looks a little bare right now, but I'm sure it will be filled with baby clothes and toys very soon!

The dresser on the right will soon have shelving installed on top.

Happy New Year to all! It's hard to believe that this is the year that Nate and I will become parents. We are looking forward to all the excitement that the New Year brings. Hope your New Year is filled with health and happiness!
